Faith is not a matter of unquestioningly accepting the ideas of another person. Genuine faith springs forth when there is a meeting of minds and genuine understanding; the type of understanding that permeates to the bone marrow and cannot be diminished by the opinions of others or external circumstances. I have had the good fortune to meet and study with some extraordinary spiritual beings and I am grateful beyond words for the understanding they have illuminated in my heart and for the fathomless compassion they demonstrate. I can’t say that I have any special qualities, but at least I have had a glimpse of wholeness.
