No Rest for the Wicked
May 19th 2006 by Sean in rantzFor some reason, I couldn’t fall asleep last night, just lying in bed for hours. At some point I finally dozed off. Then, at the crack of dawn I hear this loud banging and shuffling. As I start to wake up, I realize it is coming from inside my room. I actually say out loud, “What the fuck!!?”
I look around my room and suddenly a bird flies up from behind something and starts banging its head on the roof before falling back to a shelf. Then it tries again and ends up on my bed near the wall. I sit up and look at it, “What are you doing in here little birdy?” Then it flutters up over to a desk and lands on my laptop keyboard. I get out of bed while it continues trying to escape and lands on shelf on the other side of the room, totally exhausted and hardly able to fly. I look for the closest thing to grab the bird with and pick up a pair of boxers that were thrown in the laundry basket last night. After a couple of attempts I manage to grab the bird and escort it over to the window, which I opened before grabbing the boxers. I put it out the window and it sits there on my open hand, breathing hard. I decide to give it a rest.
We look at each other for about 5 minutes and I decide I want to go back to sleep. A couple of bounces and off it goes. As I’m getting back into bed I notice that the bird was nice enough to leave a little turd on my white down comforter. Awww! The strange thing is that I was home from around 7:00 and was doing things until about midnight and not a peep. I guess it thought it could sneak out in the morning. The moral of the story? If you are going to have a dove over to spend the night, make sure to show them where the bathroom is before kicking them out in the morning.
