Mischievous Mind
by Sean on May.11, 2007, under funnyz, rantz
My subconscious mind seems to have developed an ornery sense of humor. Every day for the past week or so, sometime between 6:00 and 6:50, it convinces me that I slept through the alarm. So I wake up all adrenalized and look at the clock. My alarm is set for 7:00. Haha, very funny subconscious mind.

grrrrrrr
don’t cha hate that … stealing away those last precious moments of dream time… as if waking up to an alarm isn’t stressful enough. I’m very lucky in that most days I wake on my own, just after stirring naturally. What a luxury that is
one that I appreciate each & every day. Ahhh, no alarms
yay!!!

I do this! It’s a game I play with myself everyday. I set two alarms. One for 5, just so I can turn it off and go back to sleep and then the other for 6.
Which I try to squeeze atleast two snoozes off of =)

If I could stay asleep, I’d dream of sleep…
My alarm is also set for 7, as is my coffeemaker. However, the birds are waking pre-dawn, I think they wake my housemate’s cat, because lately she has to come in and wake me as soon as the sun cracks the horizon (we’re on a hill so that is about 5:30 or so. So I get to see the pretty colors of sunrise as she plunks herself half on the bed, half on the windowsill as I desperately try to go back to sleep…by the time I am drifting off, its time to get up, Or at least its time to stop ignoring the cat, have our 10-15 minute cuddle before she acts indignant that I am disturbing her nap with my rising from bed. We had some heat and humidity so the waking began at 4 or 4:30….ugh.

your subconscious is getting a message from the Divine- and it’s smart enough to know that the only way to get you to get up is to play a little trick! yeaaah, feel the inspired vibes to meditate! This gives me an idea, I would like my subconscious to make me get up at 4:30- the morning hours are sacred!

3:00 AM is a powerful time for meditation. When I was in Nepal staying at a retreat center, many of the practitioners would wake up at 3 to begin one of four meditation sessions for the day. It is difficult to start so early if you are not in retreat full-time but, it can be done if you are diligent about getting to bed early. My eyes start to get raspy as the work day wears on if I don’t get enough sleep. Anyhow, the more inspired time spent in meditation, the better.

I do that too for long periods at a time. When i do I’m usually having a very meaningfiul dream time. I like waking during these and contemplating them,
